Gail Schulenburg was born in Oak Park, Illinois and grew up in the Chicago suburb of Berwyn. She attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana where she met her husband, Rich. Gail then taught fifth grade in LaGrange, Illinois for four years.
All three of Gail's children were born in Naperville, Illinois. Gail was one of the Sunday School directors at their church, Trinity Lutheran. Her family lived in the Chicago suburbs until Rich's job transferred him to Phymouth, Minnesota, where they lived for eight years. Gail worked for the Wayzata Weekly Newspaper and also for the then-new QVC Home Shopping Channel as a telemarketing supervisor. For seven years, Gail taught the seventh grade confirmation classes for their church, Glory of Christ.
Gail and her family moved to Norfolk in 1994. After teaching the gifted program for two years for the Norfolk Public Schools, Gail accepted the job as Director of Helping Hands Child Care. Gail and Rich are also members of S.O.S. at Christ Lutheran, and have been in the same LifeLight Bible study group for nine years.
Gail has three grown children. Kurt, his wife Rachel, and son Luke live in Seattle, Washington. Paul and his wife Megan live in Chicago, Illinois. Lori lives in Omaha.
Since Gail, Rich, and Kurt all went to Purdue, they are huge Boilermaker fans. Paul and Lori attended UNL, and are diehard Husker fans. And they all love the Chicago Cubs!
